Tommy Lee's puppet wiener looked very cartoony and ridiculous, though. Lily James's boobs are apparently prosthetic appliances in this, so they do appear kind of fake (then again, Pam's were "enhanced" as well). I can personally attest to the quality of the VHS reenactments, having been etched into the inside of my brain. It would have been completely inauthentic to tone it down otherwise. I was glad to see that there was copious nudity in this. After three episodes, I'm interested to see where it goes next. I guess they're positioning her to be the hapless innocent bystander in this dramatization. I already knew Tommy Lee was a piece of shit, and Sebastian Stan's characterization was spot on, but I'm completely mesmerized by Lily James's transformation as Pamela Anderson. Interesting choice to make us side with the guy who stole the tape in the first episode. Overall I enjoyed the story I just think there's a little bit more going on narratively than meets the eye. Tommy may be have been a lot of things, but he never came off as *this*. The stalking, threatening, confrontational Tommy we see, feels very much like a skewed POV one sided take. "I just tresspassed to get my tools!" ok.Īlso I grew up with Tommy on my TV set, I always got the sense that while he was undoubtedly skeevy, he was probably a pretty chill guy, maybe even kind of a sweetheart. "I swear I'm not a creep i accidentally walked in on your wife!" ok. We are seeing everything happening but it feels very strongly biased from the POV of Rogan to a point where the narrative almost, just almost doesnt add up.Ī down and out carpenter who stood up to a bully (Lee) sounds like a sympathetic story, but at the same time there's a lot of that in reality paints Rogan as THE villian. I feel like we are definitely in an Unreliable narrator situation here though.
